Some promotion strategies at supermarkets

Objectives of Promotions are to attract potential buyers for having a new transaction or lure existing customers for more purchases. The following are some promotion strategies in supermarkets:

  • Promo extra discount for holders of certain types of credit cards
  • Buy more products – get lower prices or higher discount values.
  • Purchase for a specific total quantity and get Bonus goods or free merchandise.
    Buy item A, item B, or item C in a total of 4 pieces – get a bonus of 1 pcs item D and a golf umbrella – maximum bonus is 2 pieces of item D in 1 Bill.
    Bonus 2 pieces item D will be calculated automatically in the POS System even though the Store’s cashier scans the barcode in the order: A, D, C, C, B, D, B, B, A, and A. Customers can collect the golf umbrella merchandise at the cashier or customer service by exchanging the merchandise voucher printed on the Bill.
  • Get extra discounts for purchases with a minimum quantity of certain items.
    Buy a minimum of 1 pcs item C and item D or E with a total equal to 5 pieces – get an extra 2% discount.
  • Get discount coupons for purchasing certain items.
    Buy 10 pieces of item F or G – get a discount coupon worth IDR 10,000. Customers can use a Discount coupon to pay 25% of the value of the next transaction or lower.
  • Purchase worth IDR 125,000 can buy the specific item at a special price.
    Purchase Item X at a special Redeem price of Rp. 50,000, if the customer buys another product item worth IDR 125,000 – in the same 1 bill – applies in multiples.
  • PWP / Purchase with Purchase.
    Every purchase of multiples of IDR 100,000 will get a Voucher for shopping 1 PWP package. The PWP Voucher Barcode is printed on the Bill and can only be used to buy PWP products at special prices for the number of PWP packages on the barcode.
  • Special Promos for members. Free Membership fee.
