THE COMPANY

PT. Pelayaran Tempuran Emas Tbk. (Temas Line)

Was founded in 17 September 1987, starting as a private limited company PT. Pelayaran Tempuran Emas in Jakarta.

The Company conducts its main line of business in shipping, offering full-containerized shipping services covering both domestic and international markets. The Company also provides support in cargo loading and discharging activities in Jakarta port via its subsidiary, PT. Perusahaan Bongkar Muat Jasa Trisari, to ensure fast and efficient container transportation.

Up to Q2 2005, Temas Line has operated a fleet of 21 vessel of 191-958 TEUs (twenty feet equivalent unit) capacity, giving a grand total of 8192 TEUs. All of the vessels in the fleet are completed with the necessary documents, as required by domestic and international conventions. The total number of containers has also grown to reach around 12.000 units.

Temas Line extended its market reach by opening a number of branch offices and agencies in Indonesia’s major cities. Toward the end of 2004, Temas Line owned four branch offices and two agencies in Surabaya, Makassar, Bitung, Medan, Ambon, and Pontianak.

The full-fledged service network and facilities offer unequalled shipping services and total logistics supports for cargo movements. Customers can count on our well-organized network or their competitive shipping needs.

THE CHALLENGES

Temas Line, with two main lines of business, shipping and container depot, needed a Financial System that fully accommodates financial business process of 5 companies in 5 disparate locations (Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, and Bitung).

Temas Shipping System only accommodates Order, Billing of Landing and Accounts Receivable. Accounts Payable and Cash-bank were monitored using spreadsheet and then keyed-in as journals into a General Ledger software to generate financial reports. Additional financial reports were then manually created using spreadsheet from data extracted from General Ledger software.

Temas Line required a new system that integrates everything from Order processing to Financial Statements and accelerate the process of Financial Closing while providing comprehensive financial reports that includes Margin Contribution Report by Vessel or Voyage#.

The required system must be easily implemented in less than a month for a typical location, since it may involve a growing number of locations due to the growth of the company.

ORLANSOFT SOLUTIONS

Orlansoft multi-entity feature turned out to be a great advantage for Temas Line to integrate the five companies into a single system using single entry for inter-company transactions.

Orlansoft multi-site feature accommodated Temas Line requirements for monitoring and consolidating financial transactions in 5 disparate sites, while making it ever easier to manage Account Receivable Control through data export-import or single database in WAN option.

Aside from the centralization of all transaction data in a single database, Orlansoft ERP was also equipped with Flexible GL Chart of Account with Cost Center Code and a full-featured Financial Report Formatter to provide the best solution for Temas Line requirement for a more detailed and insightful financial information, including Income Statement by group of company and Margin Contribution Report by Vessel or Voyage#.

English-like table names and fields made it faster to integrate Sales Order Processing from Temas Shipping System online into Orlansoft Sales and Accounts Receivable Modules.

Other business processes that spanned from Purchase Order, Inventory Management, Account Payable Control, Account Receivable Control, Cash-Bank Management and General Ledger were also integrated into Orlansoft.

The implementation process that also include financial business process streamlining helped to shorten the time required for Financial Closing.

A comprehensive Business Process documentation that detailed standard system settings had made it easy to replicate system deployment to other branches and locations.
